U.S. military veterans dedicate many of the prime years of their lives serving their country, often at the expense of their families, education, and careers. Many leave the military with physical, mental, or emotional trauma, making it challenging to fully reintegrate into family life, a career, and the community.
The journey back can be overwhelming, and the absence of the comradery and deep friendships forged during service is often profound.

While government programs and corporate resources provide critical support, they can often feel impersonal, difficult to navigate, and inadequate to address the unique needs of veterans. Over the years, Alexander Wasyl and Zachary Gordon have built strong personal and professional relationships with U.S. veterans. In many conversations, common themes emerge: frustration navigating confusing websites, sifting through unreliable information, and the challenge of finding meaningful support. This leaves many veterans feeling disillusioned and unsupported.
In the summer of 2024, longtime veteran friend Steve Wood approached Alex and Zach with a vision: a unique solution for U.S. veterans and their families, a trusted, all-in-one platform offering verified resources, a range of services, access to veteran-owned businesses, and an offering of customized adventure activities. Alex, recognizing the tremendous potential in Steve’s idea, saw the opportunity to combine Steve’s firsthand experience and extensive veteran network with his own entrepreneurial expertise and Zach’s background in the nonprofit sector to bring this vision to life.
Within months, Heroes United was born. A nonprofit organization, built on a foundation of compassion and deep gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who have served. An organization where individuals and businesses can contribute to improving the lives of veterans. By channeling their passion, expertise, and commitment, Alex, Zach, and Steve have created a trusted platform where veterans can find support, reconnect with their squads, and build new relationships as they transition into life after service.
